  • 2 Recent Photos (not older than 1 month, white background, 35 X 45mm in size, 80 % face area to be covered)
  • Confirmed return/onward air ticket
  • Hotel confirmation voucher, directly from the hotel in South Africa mentioning pax name, passport no. date of issue and date of expriry of the passport. Letter must have the physical address, as well as contact details of authorised signature’s name, designation and signature. (letter from the Indian Tour Company is NOT acceptable)
  • A day-to-day itinerary/travel plan covering your stay in South Africa.
  • Vaccination certificate, (yellow fever) If applicant will travel through or stay in yellow fever belt. For the latest Yellow Fever Policy please click here
  • Covering letter on business letterhead, explaining the reason of travel with name & designation of the pax and the signatory. This letter should clearly mention who will bear the expenses of the trip. It should mention the passport number of all the pax along with the correct date of entry and exit into South Africa. The same should tally with the air tickets.
  • Latest Original bank statement with bank stamp & signature on it with closing balance equivalent to R 3000, Foreign exchange worth USD 1000 & Salary Certificate for last 3 months
  • Leave letter/ NOC from the company/ school/ university in original in case pax is working or studying. It should clearly mention the name, passport number and duration of trip.Letter must have the physical address, as well as contact details of authorised signature’s name, designation and signature.
  • Notarised letter of consent for minors (below 18 years of age) travelling alone or with one of the parents , and a full birth certificate..
  • Unabridged Birth Certificates Required for Children Traveling Internationally. All documents must either be original or certified as true copies of the original, by a competent authority. Documents not in English must be accompanied by a sworn translation

Letter must have the physical address, as well as contact details of the host and host’s/authorised signature’s name, designation and signature; and Host ID copy attested by commissioner of OATHS or Police or Post Office (in South Africa)
  • Family members residence card copy, passport copy ;1st page, last page, visa first entry and last entry. (attested from local police department)
  • Sponsors employment status in S. Africa on his business letterhead.(attested from local police department)
  • A letter from the sponsors employer in S. Africa mentioning his designation and the person’s name whom he is inviting (attested from local police department)

  • Reference/introduction letter from Indian employer stating the name, passport number of applicant as well as purpose and duration of visit. Letter must have the physical address, as well as contact details of authorised signature’s name, designation and signature

TRANSIT VISA :


(visa Form to be filled in BLACK ink only)

Transit visa is Required if you are visiting via South Africa to The Kingdom of Lesotho, the Kingdom of Swaziland, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana
and Mozambique. If you are transiting through any other Country other than the one listed above, transit visa is NOT required.

SHORT TERM PROJECTS:

  • Passport, (valid for at least 30 days after the intended stay/departure date from South Africa; at least three unused/blank visa pages)
  • Fully completed visa application form-(DHA-84) – must be completed in black ink and block letters. Application form-DHA-84 must be signed by the applicant and signature should match the signature on the passport.
  • Proof of funds (Last 03 month’s bank statement signed and stamped on each and every page by the bank with a balance of INR 60,000 for Delhi which is equivalent to foreign exchange worth USD 1000 and minimum INR 20,000 for Mumbai which is equivalent to South African Currency R 3000.
  • Letter of invitation from the South African company/hosts stating the name, passport number of applicant(s) as well as purpose and duration of visit. Letter must have the physical address, as well as contact details of the host and host’s/authorised signature’s name, designation and signature; (Host ID copy attested by commissioner of OATHS needs to be submitted if required by SAHC)
  • Recommendation from respective film commission in South Africa i.e Cape Town Film Commission, Durban Film Office or Gauteng Film Commission stating the name, passport number of applicant(s) as well as purpose and duration of visit. (if going for a Film project)
  • Reference/introduction letter from Indian employer/production company stating the name, passport number of applicant(s) as well as purpose and duration of visit. Letter must have the physical address, as well as contact details of authorised signature’s name, designation and signature;

    Orphaned Child-

    Director –General of Department of Home Affairs may approve entry or departure of orphaned children travelling with a relative or a person related to his/her parents.

    Unaccompanied Child-

    Consent from one or both parents or legal guardian, as the case may be, in the form of an affidavit.

    Where one parent provides an affidavit granting full parental responsibilities and rights in respect of the child.

    A letter from the person who will receive the child in the Republic, his or her residential address and contact details in Republic where the child will be residing.

    Copy of ID, valid passport and visa or permanent residence permit of the person receiving the child in the Republic; and

    Contact details of parents / Legal Guardian.

  • Applications for short term work visitor’s visa, also known as section 11(2) visitor’s visa, Applicants are expected to comply with the requirement outlined (checklist) on page 134 and page 136 of the DHA 84 application form.(Applicable for Mumbai).
  • Must submit a recently attested/certified (within 3 months) copy of South African ID or Foreign passport with valid visa of host company representative.
    Note: The person who signs the invitation letter i.e. HR or Company Executive needs to provide a Valid attested Photo ID (latest 3months) copy by Commissioner of oaths.

TEMPORARY RESIDENCE PERMIT :

The following documentation must be submitted with the temporary resident application Form BI-1738:

TSubmission at South African Consulate in Mumbai from Monday to Thursday between 0900 to 1100 hrs

Collection after 8 weeks from the consulate in Mumbai from Monday to Thursday between 1400 to 1600 hrs

Visa Fees: Rs. 2560/- by demand draft favoring ” SOUTH AFRICAN CONSULATE GENERAL MUMBAI” ( this amount might change depending on the rate of exchange fluctuation; kindly contact us before making the draft)

  • A passport valid for no less than 30 days after the expiry of intended visit
  • A photocopy of valid residential permit, if applicable
  • Permit fees (cash or bank transfer – details given above)
  • 2 Recent Photos (not older than 1 month, white background, 35 X 45mm in size, 80 % face area to be covered)

  • Return or onward ticket
  • Lodge a cash deposit (to be advised by the foreign mission), or
  • Invitation letter from South Africa mentioning the invitors permanent residency ID card number, a copy of his ID card, permanent residence permit copy, his/her employment details on their letterhead, bank statement from South Africa, his relationship with the invitee, accomodation and expense clause, invitees passport details and full name on his invitation letter. Invitor should also send South Africa Police service sworn/affirmed affidavit. None of the above is required in Original. Photocopy would suffice.
  • Submit a written undertaking by the prospective employer accepting full responsibility for the costs related to the deportation of the applicant and his family should it become necessary. (photocopy)
  • Police clearance certificates for all applicants 18 years and older ( in Original)
  • Medical certificate from a Doctor on his letterhead and radiology reports of each applicant (radiology reports are not required for children under the age of 12 years and pregnant women)
  • An unabridged birth certificate
  • Proof of custody or adoption of a minor, where applicable
  • Consent from the parents of a minor, where applicable
  • A marriage certificate, where applicable
  • Proof of a spousal relationship by means of affidavit
  • A divorce decree or proof of legal separation, where applicable
  • A death certificate in respect of a late spouse, where applicable
  • Invitee financial papers like latest bank statement for 6 months, income tax returns for 3 years, investment in shares, FDR,etc (photocopy)
